We’re Back

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

Hurricane Ike GraphicWe are back in our home now and have internet access (yeah!). We left Lake Jackson, Texas on September 11. The storm hit our area late night and early morning of September 12 and September 13.

We did not have electrical power until September 28 so we stayed with family in Tyler, Texas. We returned Septemeber 29 to a smelly refrigirator (two weeks with no power tends to do that) and a horrible mess in the yard.

But we are all safe and had no damage to our home. We just got internet access back yesterday so this if my first update to ChurchFun.com from our home.

Thank you for praying for our family. It means so much to know that all of our friends from ChurchFun.com were praying for us. I’m sorry I could not post more. I was posting things from the home of family and the public libarary but things are back now.

We love you all and pray God’s blessings on you.

God Is Love Sketch by Curt Gunz

God Is Love Sketch by Curt GunzThis little pencil is so happy because he was able to write three of the most important words ever.

“God Is Love” His love is what caused Him to create this universe, it caused Him to seek us even when we did not deserve it, it caused Him to send His Son as a sacrifice so that we could have our sins washed away.

Yep, this little pencil has a lot to be happy about because he was able to write some of the most important words in history.

Thank You

Thank You

“Thank You” They’re more than just words.

Are you thankful? Right now, before you read anymore of this article, I want you to make a list of five things or people for which you are thankful. Did you list your church, your parents, your friends? In our culture we have gotten away from what was at one time, a necessary duty. After your last birthday party, did you personally thank each person that attended and gave you a gift? I’m not talking about yelling as they got inside the minivan, “Thanks for coming!” I mean, did you sit down with a note card and write, “Dear Hayden, Thanks a lot for coming to my birthday party…” Why not? Perhaps you didn’t think about it. Today I want to talk to you about being thankful. It’s very important.

How to Be a Good Sport

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

“No fair!”

“I quit”

“You cheated!”

“This game is stupid”

Those attitudes can suck the fun right out of a good game.

It is no fun to lose. Everyone would rather win at everything, but everyone will lose sometimes. When you do lose you can lose and still have fun. Being a good sport makes you more fun to play with and lets you have fun too.

Congratulations after a good game

Fire Hose with a Mustache

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Fire Hose with a Mustache My son “Fun Guy” is ten (almost eleven-years-old) and sometimes I ask him what to draw. He usually tries to think of something really weird because the sketches turn out funnier that way.

Yesterday I asked him what to draw and without even stopping to think or take a breath he blurted out, “Draw a fire hose with a mustache.”

Now that is weird! - but fun.

So here for your viewing pleasure is “a fire hose with a mustache”.

But, it got me to thinking about all the men and women who are heroes. There are firemen, police officers, doctors, teachers, parents, coaches, ministers, and others right in your community. Those type people are the real heroes of the world.

Batman, Iron Man or The Hulk are just pretend. But hardworking, dedicated loving people who take care of you and your community are the real heroes of the world.

When you say your prayers tonight, why not take just an extra few moments and thank God for the real heroes that He has given us?

You may dress-up like a pretend hero sometimes and that is fun. But just remember who the REAL heroes in the world are.

Well, when they start a new space program they use monkeys to test out the skill and equipment necessary for rocket flight.

Here is a way to see if you have what it take to play this fun, free, and funny game online.

Catapult

Fun in the Car

Friday, October 17th, 2008

ABC GameHere is a fun game for you and your family to play in the car on a long trip.

You look for letters of the alphabet on street signs, bumper stickers, store signs and restaurants signs.

First find an “A” on a sign, and then find a “B” and “C” on down the alphabet.

You can play as a family or you can play competitively. If you play as a family everyone looks for the first letter and anyone who sees it calls it out then everyone looks for the next letter.

If it is a competition, everyone looks for “A” and each person must find it on a different sign.

Friday Nights in the USA

Cheerleader for football game

This football player and this cheerleader are having a lot of fun.

Kids all over the United States go to football games on Fridays. College games are on Saturday and professional games are on Sunday.

Hobbies and sports are fun. Did you know that we are told to do all things for the Glory of God? Even our “extra” things should show Him.

So, whatever you do (hobby, school work, part time job, baby sitting; whatever you do!) do it to the glory of God.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men,
