Model trains are fun. Here is a video from the Science Channel that shows how model trains are made. It is interesting to see how things are made. Model trains come in different scales and the train layouts can become very big and complicated for serious train hobbyists and model train collectors.

Car Trip Bingo

Car Trip Bingo is a fun car trip game for kids and adults that can make the time fly by when you have a long car trip. So play this automobile game when you travel and have lots of fun. It is free (of course).

There are ten different “Bingo” sheets with common signs that you will see as you travel. Download these sheets. If you want you can download extra so that you can play over and over as you travel.

Hear Professor QB talk about Car Trip Bingo

Audio Clip is 1:18

Play this like regular “Bingo” games. When you see one of the signs mark an “X” on sign on your sheet. The first person to get five-in-a-row (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) is the winner.

For an even longer game you can play “Blackout” where all of the squares must have an “X” to win.

Click here to print your own "ChurchFun.com Car Trip Bingo" Sheets

Most computers already have it installed. If you don’t have it click on this button and it will take you to the Adobe Systems, Inc. website where you can download the software for free. ChurchFun.com can’t give you any help on the Adobe software (we don’t know enough about it).

Worm dirt pudding is a gross looking but yummy dessert. But most of all it is fun.

Here is everything you need to know.

You will need:

Worm Dirt Pudding Ingredients

1 package Oreo cookies, crushed
2 cups cold milk
1 package Jello chocolate instant pudding mix
8 ounces Cool Whip topping, thawed
1 package gummy worms

Serving Description: 1 plastic cup (or you can use a beach pail)
Servings: 8
Enter desired servings:
Container: 8 plastic cups
Prep Time: 45 minutes
Put cookies into a Ziplock bag and close tightly.

Using a rolling pin, roll and crush the cookies until crumbly. The more you crush the more it will look like dirt. Set the cookies aside.

Pour the milk and chocolate instant pudding mix into a large bowl.
Whisk well until all of the pudding mix is dissolved.
Let stand 5 minutes.
Add the Cool Whip and 1/2 of the crushed cookies.
Stir until well blended.
Place a large spoonful of crushed cookies into the bottoms of the plastic cups or put into beach pail.
Add the pudding mixture until cups are 3/4 full. Or put it all in the beach pail.
Add 1 large gummy worm so that it is half in the cup and half hanging out of the cup or put all the worms on top so they look like the worms are crawling out of the dirt.
Spoon in more crushed cookie around the worm to hold it in place.
Serve chilled.
Note: You can use as many worms in the pudding as desired.

That is it. Easy and fun (a little gross too).

Patrick, Fun Guy, and Professor QB discuss ladybugs after Patrick finds three ladybugs in his Bible Classroom at church.

Audio Clip is 4:02

We also have plans for you to make a ladybug house for your garden.

Ladybugs can help your garden by eating harmful insects like aphids. A ladybug house is a fun project to attract ladybugs or house ladybugs you buy from a supplier.

Ladybug House

Step 1: Materials

1x8s for the wood, some hinges and small screws.

1 x 8 for Ladybug House

Step 2: Design

Not too complicated. It’s basically a box. The sides have an angle on the top, and the bottom and top are longer than the sides. The front is the shortest piece as to allow a space on the top and bottom. The top is hinged to a short piece on the top back so it can be opened. Also, the back piece is taller so it can be attached for mounting.

Ladybug House Hinge Top

The hinge top is so the top can lift.

Ladybug House with Lid Up

Step 3: Attach to Pole

Ladybug houses are supposed to be 1-3 feet from the ground. This one uses bamboo.Used a bolt and nut to attach it.

Ladybug House Attached to Pole

Cut the bottom at an angle so it will stick into the ground.

Ladybug Pole Angled to Drive into Ground

Step 4: Paint

Painting your ladybug house will help it hold up to the weather, look good, and bright colors will attract ladybugs.

Painted Ladybug House

Ladybugs are attracted to bright colors like green, blue and yellow, and to floral patterns.

Ladybug House Side View

Step 5: Putting it Into Your Garden

The ladybug house should go in or near your garden.
A tiny pool of water (as deep as half of a ladybug’s height) with some leaves and twigs in or near the house will help attract them. You can also buy chemical attractant, or just buy the ladybugs themselves.

Ladybug House in Garden

These plans come from TimBTodd at Instructibles.com

Camping is fun for the whole family. Cooking can even be a highlight of the trip instead of a dreaded chore.

Here are a few tips to make your campout meals fun and easy.

Foil Makes Camping Food Easy

Aluminum foil lets you prepare meals ahead of time. Then just put them on the coals and before long you have a great meal. Make sure to use heavy-duty foil then double the foil layers. A grownup should be the only one who places foil packs on the coals (and only a grownup should remove them). They get really hot. Hot coals are better than an open flame.

Here are some recipes:

Silver Turtles. Wrap seasoned hamburger formed into a patty, sliced potatoes, carrots and onions into a foil pouch. To cook, place the pouches in hot coals or over a medium grill for 45 minutes, turning once or twice during cooking.

“Chicken coop” Sausage. Place a pre-made sausage patty on a sheet of aluminum foil. Form a nest of frozen hash browns on top of the sausage. Crack an egg into the depression created by the nest. Wrap the foil into a pouch and set in host coals for 30 minutes.

Orange Cinnamon Biscuits. Take a large orange and slice it in half. Scoop out the halves of the orange, keeping the skin intact. You can use the orange to make orange juice. Place a pre-made cinnamon roll (the ones that come in a tube) into one of the orange halves. Replace the other half of the orange skin and wrap the whole thing in foil. Place the foil ball into hot coals for 10 minutes, turning once during cooking. The cinnamon roll will cook, picking up the flavor of the orange.

Pre-made Meals Make Life Easier

Consider cooking meals before you leave. Taco-seasoned meat can be brought along for a “make your own” taco meal. Casseroles can also be made ahead and frozen. Casseroles, like all frozen foods, can be used in the cooler to keep things cold and will thaw in time for meals.

Shake and pour pancake mixes can make things a lot easier too.

The key is to focus on fun, yummy foods that are quick to make and quicker to clean-up. That way you can have more time to spend focused on the fun part of the meals and the whole camping trip.
