Optical Illusion Group of People Shifting

I love optical illusions, and this optical illusion is really interesting.

Count the number of people in this picture.

About every 15 seconds they top part of the people will switch places.

After they switch places count the people again.

Now, where did the extra person go?

This is really strange isn’t it?

God loved us so much that he sent His son so that we would not be lost.

All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.

For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”

Psalms

PsalmsTake a Bible with the Old and New Testament. Lay it on a table and try to open right in the middle of the pages. You will probably open it to the book of Psalms. So what is this book where the words are laid out funny, it says everything twice and always talks about sheep and cups “runneth overing”?

Song Book, Prayer Book and More

Have you ever noticed how music is not just something you hear, it is something you feel? Christmas time “feels” like Christmas partly because of Christmas carols. A scary movie has scary music to make you afraid. When you sing at church, don’t you think about God more?

Well, the Bible book of Psalms is a song book with 150 special songs for ancient Israelites. The book talks about how they felt when they were happy, when they were very sad, when the were upset because the bad guys seemed to be winning and how they prayed to God by themselves and when they worshipped God together.

God Is Love Sketch by Curt GunzThis little pencil is so happy because he was able to write three of the most important words ever.

“God Is Love” His love is what caused Him to create this universe, it caused Him to seek us even when we did not deserve it, it caused Him to send His Son as a sacrifice so that we could have our sins washed away.

Yep, this little pencil has a lot to be happy about because he was able to write some of the most important words in history.

Rotating Rays Optical Illusions

Look closly at this circle. Do you see how the stingrays slowly go in a circle? Look close.

Do you want to know something weird? The picture does not move at all. It is jus an illusion of movement. Put your mouse pointer by one of the stingrays then don’t move your mouse and you can see that the picture is not moving.

Sometimes people will tell you what you need to do to look cool, smart or popular. But things are not always what they appear. In the book of Colossians, the Apostle Paul tells us that what we do on the outside is not as important as what we really are on the inside. People will always be telling us what to do or how to look but what really matters is following Jesus.

Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom…

–First part of Colossians 2:23 (NIV)

Boring Bible Reading

Boring Bible Reading

If you try to read the Bible every day do you ever find it boring? When you do find it boring do you feel guilty, after all it is God’s Word?

If you do, you are not alone. Many people find parts of the Bible boring.

Parts of Numbers and Deuteronomy are boring even to Bible scholars at times. Instead of feeling guilty you can be proud that you are trying to read the Bible every day. But, it is God’s Word and it is all important.

Here are some tips to help you.

1. Vary your reading. If you find a part that is hard to understand or is boring to you try to also a part that you like (maybe a Psalm, the Gospel of Mark or something like that).

2. Consider using a “daily Bible reading” type Bible that has sections from the Old Testament and New Testament or is in chronological order.

3. Get a student Bible or study Bible that will explain some of the parts that are hard to understand so that they might not be so boring when you understand them.

4. Pray. Tell God honestly how you feel and ask Him to give you strength to continue and insight to understand His Word.

The main thing is to keep at it and don’t give up. If you are reading the Bible you are doing something great.
