Creation and Our Awesome God

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

CreationLooking at the stars help us to remember how huge and powerful God is. One of the best ways to start your prayers is just to spend some time praising God for how awesome he is.

Awesome is a word that is overused these days. Getting a new game or a trip to the movies makes us say it is “awesome” but the word really means something that fills us with awe.

Have you ever looked at something that was sooooo cool you just didn’t have words to describe it. Maybe a mountain when you were camping, or a starry night when you were out in the country away from city light, or a waterfall, or your trip to the Grand Canyon or…well, you get the idea.

The kind of thing that makes your jaw drop and you just say, “awe………”

That is what awesome really means.

So when you start your prayers spend some time just thanking God for his awesome-ness and praising Him because He is awesome.

I like to look at pictures like this one to remind me that God created a great big universe. He is awesome.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

sickI was able to get the new cartoon up for you guys. Have not put up many posts in the last couple of days because I’ve been sick. I hate to be late putting up posts because I want you to have something to do or at least something to smile about EVERY TIME you visit our site.

I was not be physically able to get any more done because it is just our family who does all of ChurchFun.com. Our older teens are off at summer camp and momma is taking care of me (and our ten-year-old and four-year-old who were also sick.

Don’t worry, it will all be back to normal soon. In fact, it will be better than ever.

Enjoy the new cartoon and be looking for more good stuff when our family is on the mend.

God bless you. ChurchFun.com has one of the best communities on the internet.

Five Ways to Learn a Bible Memory Verse

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

BrainLearning Bible verses is one of the best things you can do. A lot of times you need to learn them for Sunday School or Vacation Bible School, but sometimes it is good just to learn them on your own.

Maybe your whole family could learn verses together.

Here are five good ways to learn Bible verses.

1) Read the verse aloud making sure that you know what each word means and can pronounce each word.

Do not just read silently. Your brain will actually learn by forming the words and hearing your voice say the words.

After you know how to say each word and know what each word means read the verse 10 times aloud.

2) Say the verse to someone else. Let them look at the Bible but you don’t look. Tell them that if you hesitate or miss a word to let you finish or keep trying until you ask for their help. Sometimes the struggle in our brain is part of the learning process.

3) Get 3″ X 5″ cards (you can buy these at an office supply store or cut your own out of paper). Write each word of the verse on a different card. Shuffle the cards then put them in the right order. It helps to place all the cards on a table where you can slide them around. Then you can easily try different combinations.

4) After you feel like you know the verse pretty well, write the verse. Write it five times.

5) Write the verse on a 3″ X 5″ card and carry it with you so you can practice each day. By the time you get to this step you will know the verse pretty well. By going over it each day you will learn it even better. It won’t be something you just learn for a little while and forget soon but you will really know it.

BONUS: Ok. So far all five tips work for memorizing anything. If you have a science test or have to learn the lines for a play that will work. Here is the most important tip. Pray that God will let you learn the verse and do what it says. Learning Bible verses is different than just learning facts. It changes you and prayer helps that happen.

Soil Experiment Growing Pinto Beans

Pinto Bean to Grow for ExperiementWhen God created the world He made everything just right.

Think about these things:

If Earth were just a little closer to the sun we would burn up and water would vaporize

If the earth did not tilt on its axis there would not be seasons and things could not grow.

If there were just a little more of certain gases or a little less of others in our atmosphere we could not breath.

If our soil had just a little more or a little less of some chemicals plants could not grow.

This project (adapted from TryScience.org) will show what would happen if there was just a little more salt in soil. (more…)

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July by Curt GunzHappy 4th of July - Independence Day to all our friends in the United States.

We have visitors in all 50 states in the U.S. but did you know that we have friends on every continent in the world (except Antarctica)?

Here’s a question for some of our many friends who live outside of the United States. What are some of the holidays in your country that you enjoy?

Email us ProfessorQB@gmail.com because I’d like to hear about your favorite holiday.

Four our Fourth of July celebration our family is going to a cookout at some friends’ house and then we are all going to a mall parking lot where we can watch fireworks.

Also, we plan to go swimming. Last week I got sunburned at the swimming pool a little. I have to be more careful.

I am so thankful that I am free to worship God and serve Jesus.

If you live in a place where you cannot worship God according to the Bible (and we have some people in countries where people could get in serious trouble just for visiting this “Christian” web site) I am saying a special prayer for you.

If you are blessed to live in a place where you can worship God freely according to the Bible, please say a prayer for our ChurchFun.com friends who don’t.

In the Beginning God Created

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

Sketch of the EarthIt is so amazing to think how God created everything–EVERYTHING.

He made every star we can see (even if we have to use the Hubble Space Telescope to see them). He made galaxies, planets, comets, black holes, nebulae and everything else.

It is also amazing that a God so great also will listen to us when we pray.

Why not spend some time thanking God for all of the cool things in the universe that He made? That would be a good way to praise Him and remind you how great He really is.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
