Ant on a Coffee Break

The Ant Who Took a Coffee Break

by Curt Gunz

Once there was an ant who decided he didn’t want to work. He thought, “You know what? Gathering food is too hard. Besides, there are a bunch of ants in this ant hill. They can handle it. I think I’ll just take the morning off.”

And that is just what he did!

The other ants rushed by on their way to forage because they knew that winter was coming and they needed to get food.

Well, the ants each had an area near the ant bed to forage. But one area went unsearched because the ant who was supposed to be in that area that morning was on a coffee break.

It just so happened that a little girl had dropped a delicious red lollipop right in the area that the ant on the coffee break was supposed to be searching. It was the kind of lollipop that could feed a whole ant bed for a whole month.

Since the ant was on a coffee break no one from the ant bed found it. Instead the lollipop was harvested by the ants from the ant bed in the next yard.

The ant on the coffee break finally decided to get back to work that afternoon but by then it was too late. The lollipop was gone. (more…)

Banana

Why are bananas never lonely?
Because they hang around in bunches.

Time flies like an arrow, but fruit flies like a banana.

What did the banana say to the elephant?
Nothing. Bananas can’t talk.

How can you tell the difference between a monster and a banana?
Try picking it up. If you can’t, it’s either a monster or a real BIG banana.

Why did the banana go out with the prune?
Because he couldn’t find a date.

Professor QB They’re not going to grow bananas any longer.
Really? Why not?
Because they’re long enough already.

Why did the clown lose his job in a fruit packing company?
He kept throwing the bent bananas away.

What is yellow on the inside and green on the outside ?
A banana dressed up as a cucumber!

Fun Banana Snack Idea

With no stove-top cooking or chopping required, this frozen banana recipe is truly for families.Banana Pop

Ingredients

  • 3 bananas
  • Ice-cream sticks
  • 2 chocolate bars, weighing about 1 1/2 ounces each
  • 1 cup of pre-chopped nuts, crushed cereal, or shredded coconut

Directions

Peel the bananas and remove any stringy fibers. Cut the bananas in half, widthwise, and push an ice-cream stick through the cut end of each half. Cover them in plastic wrap and freeze for about 3 hours.

After the bananas are frozen, place the chocolate bars in a microwave-proof bowl and cook on High for about 2 minutes, or until the chocolate melts. Check after one minute. Stir in the nuts, cereal, or coconut. Using a butter knife, spread the chocolate mixture over the frozen bananas to coat them completely. Be careful while the mixture is still hot. Kids can roll them in more topping (this is messy but fun).

Rest the pops on a plate covered with waxed paper and freeze until ready to serve. Makes 6 pops

Chocolate Dipped Pretzel SticksHere is a fun, easy and tasty snack recipe that you will love. You will need your parents to help you.

You Will Need

  • One bag of pretzel sticks
  • 12-ounce bag semisweet or white chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Cookie sheet lined with waxed paper
  • Spoon, flat spatula, and table knife

Here Is What You Need to Do

1. Put chocolate chips and butter in a microwave-safe bowl, and microwave on high for 1 minute, 30 seconds. Stir with spoon. If the chips are not melted, heat for 30 more seconds and stir again.

2. Dip the spatula into the melted chocolate. Roll the pretzel stick in the chocolate on the spatula so it is half-covered. (Melted white chocolate can be a little lumpy, so you may need to smooth it over the pretzel with the knife.)

3. Lay each chocolate-dipped pretzel on the cookie sheet. Let the dipped pretzels sit for 30 minutes before serving. Do not refrigerate.
