Weird and Gross Stuff From the Bible

BearIn II Kings 24:23-25 it tells about a time forty-two young people from the town of Bethel were killed by two bears because they were being disrespectful.

This gang of brats was no match for a couple of ferocious bears. I wouldn’t want a bear like this one mad at me. How about you?

Makes you kind of think doesn’t it? It is important to be respectful and never be mean to anyone especially older people. Also, hanging around with a bad crowd can get people into a lot of trouble.

I bet those forty-two kids thought they were being cool. If those mean kids were around today where do you think they would hang out: the mall, school, the park, the basketball court?

I’m glad that today people are not mauled by bears when they are disrespectful or mean.

That really is Weird and Gross.

Stand Up Comedy AlligatorThis alligator (or maybe he is a crocodile) is a stand up comedian. This is probably a Florida gator, or a Louisiana swamp crocodile.

He has jokes, puns, one-liners and after dinner speeches in his comic act.

He performed at the Improv, Giggle Factory, he has been on David Letterman, Jay Leno, he had a scheduling conflict so he could not host Saturday Night Live or go on “The View”, he’s currently performing to sold out amphibians in the Gator Bowl.

He recently got an HBO SPECIAL!!!!!

Yes, when he moved in to his apartment he got basic cable and the cable company gave him an HBO Special of just $19.99 for the first three months of programming. Ba-dum Ching.

Weird and Gross Stuff “6 Fingers and Toes”

Xray of six fingers on each hand

This is weird. Did you know that there was a really tall Philistine who was unusual? But, it’s not Goliath.

You probably remember that the Israelites were always fighting against the Philistines. David killed Goliath in the most famous battle. What you may not know is that there were other really big, really mean guys whom the Israelites fought.

How would you like to have to fight a giant guy? David and his mighty men were brave. There were four sons of a really huge guy. David’s men had to fight all four of these over-sized brothers.

Now that is weird and gross.

In still another battle, which took place at Gath, there was a huge man with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot—twenty-four in all. He also was descended from Rapha. When he taunted Israel, Jonathan son of Shimea, David’s brother, killed him.

Biblical archer

Cut Off Their Thumbs and Big Toes

Adoni-Bezek was a Canaanite king in the book of Judges in the Old Testament.

He was a great warrior and had captured seventy kings. He cut off their thumbs and big toes.

That seems kind of weird. Why would he do that?

When an archer draws a bow he uses his fingers and thumb. With no thumb he could not shoot his arrow straight.

When a warrior loses his big toe he has trouble balancing and running.

By cutting off the other kings thumbs and toes Adoni-Bezek disgraced them because they could not fight any more.

Also, Adoni-Bezek made the seventy kings eat scraps of food from under his table (like a dog or some other type of pet).

By doing those things Adoni-Bezek was saying “I’m the best king. I have disgraced seventy kings and now they are like pet dogs to me.”

What Adoni-Bezek did not know is that God was the only true king. God gave Adoni-Bezek into the hands of Judah.

When Judah attacked, the LORD gave the Canaanites and Perizzites into their hands and they struck down ten thousand men at Bezek. It was there that they found Adoni-Bezek and fought against him, putting to rout the Canaanites and Perizzites. Adoni-Bezek fled, but they chased him and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and big toes.

Then Adoni-Bezek said, “Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off have picked up scraps under my table. Now God has paid me back for what I did to them.” They brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
